Debra Gilchrist, PhD is Vice President for Learning and Student Success at Pierce College, a community college in Washington State. In addition to academic and student affairs, she leads campus efforts focused on accreditation, equity, guided pathways, and institutional effectiveness. Her publications focus on outcomes assessment as a tool for change, demonstrating the contributions of academic libraries through assessment of learning and program impact. She co-designed and led Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) programs on utilizing the Standards for Libraries in Higher Education, Assessment in Action, and as an inaugural faculty member for the Immersion program. She served as Library Dean at Pierce for 20 years and a faculty member in two university libraries. Degrees: Ph. D., Oregon State University-Higher Ed Leadership; MLS, University of Denver; MS-Geography, South Dakota State University. Her dissertation focused on the academic library’s role in leading institutional and instructional change.
